Today was a day for the messiness record books. I was thinking as i was cleaning up the millionth mess...hey you need to document this for the day that every mom promises is coming.. the day i will think about it and laugh. I honestly have chucked to myself many times today because of the sheer ridiculousness of it all.
My morning started at 7 am. i woke up with a pair of 3 year old feet in back. I got showered, and walked out into the hall when i hear a sweet little voice say " its OK- momma will clean it up!" So i peak into the female room to find vomit all over my tiniest princesses bed. She had apparently gotten sick in the night and didn't feel it was necessary to bother us. I growl and head toward the laundry room to get it ready for a load. I clear the bed and get the shampooer and start cleaning. I clean myself and tidy the bathroom. The baby is awake so i head to get him out of bed and lay him on the changing table when i realize his diaper filling (you know the gooey white stuff) has leaked out and is now all over him and the changing pad and my arm. So i clean that off everything and set him with a nakey hiney to walk around while i cleaned the changing table off. He immediately pees on a train on the floor. Ok seriously?? so i wipe that up. Get him dressed and make breakfast. little girl pours herself a drink... all over the kitchen floor. then i work on laundry to find that i have washed a diaper. so there is white goo all over the laundry. i hang my sheets on the line to dry and it starts pouring down rain. :)
i decide today would be a great day for painting. so i set the kids up to paint and stepped into the laundry room. i return to find the 2 blondees filling food containers with paint. little girl was headed to hide hers in the bedroom. near disaster averted!! they layed their paintings on the floor to dry and she stepped on them and walked through the house. We were up to our ears in paint. Clean up and nap time.
The littles woke up and started to color at the table while the bigs worked on school work. then it was free play time in the girls bedroom. I told the kids over and over to stay out of the water. So I go to check on the little girl and she has buckets of water in the bedroom and has dumped it all over the toy chest. We get that cleaned up and i come back to the living room and the baby bean has found a container of blank cds and spread them over the entire computer room floor. while im cleaing that he is gathering everything he can get his hands on and throwing it in the pack-n-play. Right now it is full to the brim with toys. books, blankets, papers etc.
we eat dinner.
I send the kids to play outside to play in the sprinkler. I go out to join them and someone steps on the sprinkler and breaks it and somehow in the showing me what happened i get soaked! :)
So we get all the wet kids dried and dressed.
I sit for a break and they drag out a craft project that ends in elmers glue all over my kitchen table.
Needless to say, the house is trashed today. and this momma is tired. I dont write this to complain. It really was a great day. Everyone played great together. We had fun together. Though we didnt accomplish much and much of my day tomorrow will be spent putting my house back together. Not every day is this messy but somedays the kids are just "ON"
